The Bahía de Cádiz Athletics Club attends the Andalusian Absolute and Under-20 Championships in Nerja with 17 athletes. The event will take place on July 4 and 5 at the Enrique López Cuenca Sports City.
A total of 17 athletes from the Bahía de Cádiz Athletics Club will compete this weekend in the Andalusian Absolute and Under-20 Championships, held in the Málaga town of Nerja. The Enrique López Cuenca Sports City will host the events on July 4 and 5, bringing together the best specialists in the region.
14 Athletes in the Absolute Category
On Saturday, July 4, the Andalusian Absolute Championship kicks off, featuring 14 representatives from the Cádiz club. In the men's category, Darío Álvarez, Álvaro Gamazo, and Isaac García will compete in the 200 metres, while Ignacio García will participate in the 400 metres.
In hurdles, Yahya Moulki will compete in the 110 and 400 metre hurdles, and Sergio Aguilar will also run the 400 metre hurdles. Ismael Álvarez will aim for height in the high jump, Juan Jesús Muñoz will throw the javelin, and Rafael Linares will compete in the 5,000 metre walk.
In the women's category, Marina Yepes will compete in the 100 and 200 metres, and Paola Núñez will also run the 200 metres. Elisabeth Zambrana will jump in long jump, Laura Andrade will throw discus, and Claudia Andrade will do the same in javelin.
Three Promises in the Under-20 Category
On Sunday, July 5, it will be the turn of the Under-20 Andalusian Championship, featuring three athletes from Bahía de Cádiz. Ignacio Sánchez will compete in the 800 metres and Darío Real in the 400 metre hurdles. The thrower Julia Amado will seek a medal in discus.
The Cádiz club's delegation travels to Nerja with the aim of achieving good results and, who knows, perhaps a podium finish. For athletics fans on the Costa del Sol, it is an opportunity to see both promising and established athletes in action. The facilities at the Enrique López Cuenca Sports City will be open to the public free of charge throughout the weekend.
