Nerja Town Hall has approved the tenth edition of the Municipal Housing Rehabilitation Programme, with €145,000 for improvement works. The grants cover up to 80% of the cost, with a maximum of €12,000 per property.
Nerja Town Hall has launched a new edition of its aid programme for housing rehabilitation. The local Government Board has approved a budget of €145,000 aimed at financing improvement works in the homes of residents with lower economic capacity. This is the tenth programme of its kind promoted by the City Council, with the aim of improving the habitability and energy efficiency of the municipality's residential stock.
Requirements to access the grants
The Councillor for Housing, Nieves Atencia, has detailed that the aid will cover up to 80% of the cost of the works, with a maximum limit of €12,000 per property. To apply, interested parties must meet a series of conditions: the property must be over ten years old and be the only property owned by the applicant. Additionally, the house must be their usual residence.
Regarding income, the family unit must not exceed three times the IPREM (Public Indicator of Multiple Effects Income). In 2026, the annual IPREM is set at €8,400, so the limit is established at €25,200 per year. This criterion aims to ensure that the aid reaches those who need it most.
Application period and eligible works
The application period will be 15 calendar days from the publication of the call in the Official Bulletin of the Province (BOP) of Málaga. Interested parties must submit the documentation at the municipal registry or through the electronic headquarters of the Town Hall.
The programme covers a wide range of reforms aimed at ensuring the safety and habitability of properties. Eligible works include structural stability works and damp removal, improvements in accessibility and energy efficiency, as well as the renewal of water, electricity, gas, and sewage installations. Improvements in ventilation and the replacement of interior carpentry and cladding are also included.
For the residents of Nerja, this initiative represents an opportunity to upgrade their homes without having to bear the entire cost. The aid can reach up to €12,000, an amount that in many cases covers the majority of the renovation bill. However, applicants will need to hurry: the 15-day period from the publication in the BOP is limited, and applications will be processed in order of arrival until the budget is exhausted.
The Town Hall reminds that the necessary documentation includes the budget for the works, the income tax declaration, and the certificate of the property's age. Interested parties are advised to prepare the paperwork in advance to avoid missing the opportunity.
