The new heatwave leaves the highest temperature in the province at Fuente de Piedra, with 41.1 degrees. Alpandeire, Álora and Cortes de la Frontera approach 40.
The new heatwave affecting the province of Málaga has left its peak on Wednesday in Fuente de Piedra, where thermometers reached 41.1 degrees. Almost the entire Málaga territory was under warnings for high temperatures, with an orange level in the Antequera region and yellow in Sol, Guadalhorce and Ronda.
Several municipalities approached 40 degrees. In Alpandeire, 39.5 degrees were recorded; in Cortes de la Frontera and Álora, 39.4; and in Ronda, 39.3 according to the institute's measurements. Coín reached 38.6 degrees. In the capital Málaga, temperatures ranged between 30.3 and 33.6 degrees, depending on the area, well below the inland records.
In Marbella, the sea breeze alleviated the heat: at the port, the maximum was 27.9 degrees, thirteen degrees less than in Fuente de Piedra. The difference highlights the contrast between the coast and the inland regions, where the heatwave has been strongly felt.
The situation will worsen this Thursday. The Axarquía, which had no warnings on Wednesday, will move to a yellow alert for high temperatures between 13:00 and 20:59. The Serranía de Ronda will remain at that level. Antequera will stay under an orange warning, a level that will also be reached by the areas of Sol and Guadalhorce. Thus, during that time frame, all Málaga regions will have some heat alert.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) recommends taking extreme precautions: avoid sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day, hydrate frequently, and pay special attention to the elderly, children, and people with chronic illnesses. Intense heat can cause heat strokes, dehydration, and worsen pre-existing conditions.
For the coming days, forecasts indicate that temperatures will remain high, with no significant drop expected until the weekend. Residents of the most affected areas, such as Fuente de Piedra or Antequera, will have to cope with values close to 40 degrees for several days.
