The renovation of the Antequera-Centro Health Centre, located on Campillo Bajo street, has reached 20% completion with a regional investment of €2.8 million. The expected opening is in the summer of 2027.
The renovation of the Antequera-Centro Health Centre, situated on Campillo Bajo street, is progressing to 20% completion. The project has a regional investment of €2.8 million and aims to restore the building for primary care, expanding spaces and healthcare services for the residents of Antequera.
The mayor of Antequera, Manolo Barón, and the delegate of the Andalusian Government in Málaga, Patricia Navarro, visited the construction site on Thursday. During the tour, they observed the completion of demolition work, the removal of the asbestos roof, and the implementation of passive fire protection for the structure. The layout of the new facilities and the progress of electrical, plumbing, and tiling installations are also already visible.
The building will have more than 2,000 square meters spread over four floors and will feature 22 adult consultation rooms and five paediatric rooms, as well as radiology, minor surgery, and extraction services. Among the improvements to the healthcare portfolio is the addition of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.
Patricia Navarro has set the expected opening for the summer of 2027, provided there are no setbacks. The delegate explained that the recovery of the centre will allow the clinical management units Antequera-Centro and Antequera-Estación to have separate spaces tailored to their needs. She also clarified that the Antequera-Estación Health Centre will continue to operate and maintain its services on Avenida de la Estación.
Manolo Barón highlighted that the recovery of the centre responds to a demand from the city and thanked the Andalusian Government for its commitment to improving public healthcare in Antequera.

the mayor stated, expressing his appreciation to the president of the Junta, Juanma Moreno, to the councillor Antonio Sanz, and to the regional officials for addressing the healthcare needs of the municipality and its region.
This initiative continues the recovery, in 2022, of the out-of-hospital emergency services in the adjacent building, which involved an investment of €600,000. This facility serves over 30,000 people a year, preventing trips to Antequera Hospital and helping to alleviate its emergency services. According to the delegate, the planned improvements will provide five emergency consultation rooms (three medical and two nursing) and a critical care room.
The visit also served to review the healthcare investments made in the region. According to data provided by the Junta de Andalucía, since 2019, €20 million has been allocated to infrastructure and equipment, 52 structural positions have been created in primary care, and 95 additional positions have been added among doctors, nursing staff, and nursing auxiliary care technicians at Antequera Hospital.
The visit also included the territorial delegate of Health, Elena González; the first secretary of the Parliament of Andalucía's Table, José Ramón Carmona; the first deputy mayor and vice president of the Málaga Provincial Council, Juan Rosas; the deputy mayor and spokesperson for the Government Team, Ana Cebrián; the deputy mayor of Works and Maintenance, Teresa Molina; and the manager of the Northern Málaga Health Area, Belén Jiménez.
