The City Council of Antequera will undertake the first phase of the comprehensive renovation of La Peña Street, in the Veracruz neighbourhood, with a budget of 150,000 euros and works scheduled for September.
The City Council of Antequera has announced the upcoming execution of the first phase of the comprehensive renovation of La Peña Street, in the Veracruz neighbourhood. The project, which will involve an investment of around 150,000 euros, will focus on the section between La Fuente and Juan Cascos streets.
The works will include the replacement of the pavement of sidewalks and road, as well as the renewal of sanitation and water supply networks. The mayor, Manolo Barón, and the deputy mayor in charge of Works and Maintenance, Teresa Molina, have revealed the details of this intervention, which will be fully funded by municipal own funds.
The contract for the work has been awarded, following the appropriate procurement procedure, to the Antequera-based company Mavar Obras y Servicios. The works are expected to begin in the upcoming month of September and last approximately four months.
Barón explained that the street currently presents various damages and that intervention on the water conduits is particularly necessary, which is why the project is not limited to the superficial improvement of sidewalks and road but also includes the renewal of underground infrastructures.
The mayor has valued that the contract has been awarded to a local company, which promotes economic activity and employment in the city, and has emphasized the importance of continuing to develop urban improvement projects in the different neighbourhoods of Antequera, in this case in Veracruz.
This first phase will represent a new step forward in the improvement of La Peña Street, jointly renewing its pavements and service networks to provide a road in better conditions of accessibility, safety, and functionality for the residents of the neighbourhood.
