The City Council of Antequera has presented the programme for the Real Feria de Agosto 2026, which will take place from August 19 to 24. The closing event will replace fireworks with a drone show due to the risk of fires.
The Real Feria de Agosto 2026 in Antequera will replace the traditional closing fireworks display with a drone exhibition. The decision, announced this Thursday by Mayor Manolo Barón and the Deputy Mayor for Major Festivals and Traditions, Elena Melero, responds to the high risk of fires and the recommendation from the Delegation of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía to avoid pyrotechnics.
The drone show will take place at 00:00 hours on Sunday, August 23, at the Fairgrounds, with a theme inspired by the Fair itself and the tenth anniversary of the declaration of the Dolmens Site as a World Heritage site. After the exhibition, Joana Jiménez and Falete will provide the musical finale for this edition.
The mayor has pointed out that this alternative had already been considered and that the previous experience with drones in Antequera has been satisfactory. In the face of an extreme fire risk situation, a decision has been made to maintain a great visual spectacle without compromising safety.
Local programming and access
The Fair will feature local artists and DJs, such as Son y Compás, Doyer Cover Band, Dr. Jones, Boomerang Cover Band, Efecto 2000, and Los Curros, as well as DJs like Madrona, Double P, and Fran Tejada. There will also be traditional and folklore groups, such as the Panda de Verdiales San Gabriel de La Joya or the Azucena group, spread across the town centre, Paseo Real, and the Fairgrounds.
To facilitate access, four adapted tourist trains will be put into operation between August 19 and 24, stopping at Plaza de Castilla, with a fare of 1 euro per trip. The schedule will be from 20:00 to 02:00 on the 19th and 23rd; until 04:00 on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd; and from 20:00 to 23:00 on the 24th. On the 19th and 24th, between 20:30 and 22:30, the trains will run without music to accommodate individuals with autism spectrum disorder.
Inclusive Fair and Children's Days
Wednesdays, the 19th, and Monday, the 24th, will be Children's Days, with affordable prices for attractions and the so-called Quiet Fair, which will eliminate music from 20:30 to 22:30. The inauguration on the 19th will feature a silent firecracker display, and the Opening Speech will include an inclusive flamenco performance by the José Galán Company.
The Speech will be delivered by ADIPA, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, with Milagros Fernández Pérez, José Roda García, Susana García Prados, and Eva Ortiz Arjona as speakers. During the event, the mayor will appoint Macarena Espinar Rodríguez as the Festival Coordinator.
Additionally, priority access to attractions will be maintained for individuals with functional diversity upon presentation of a certificate, and three defibrillators (two at the Fairgrounds and one at Paseo Real) will be provided by SIFU. With these measures, the August Fair consolidates its commitment to inclusion and safety, combining music, tradition, and family leisure.
