Antonio Cabello, Francisco Tejada and Alfredo Sotelo win the III Photography Competition 'Districts of Antequera'. The exhibition with 35 images can be visited until October 28 at the Town Hall.
The exhibition hall of the Town Hall of Antequera hosts from this Tuesday until October 28 a display of 35 photographs selected in the III Photography Competition "Districts of Antequera". A total of 89 works from 19 participants were submitted to the contest, organised in collaboration with the Antequerana Photographic Group (AFA).
The first prize, worth 500 euros, went to Antonio Cabello Sánchez; the second, worth 300 euros, to Francisco Tejada Domínguez; and the third, worth 150 euros, to Alfredo Sotelo Matos. All three are members of the AFA. The presentation was attended by the mayor, Manolo Barón; the councillor for Outlying Areas and Rural Development, Sara Ríos; the councillor for Culture, José Medina Galeote; and the president of the group, José Díez de los Ríos.
The jury consisted of Nono García, Antonio Rabaneda, and Sara Ríos. The awarded images feature scenes from La Higuera, Colonia de Santa Ana, and Villanueva de Cauche. Cabello's black and white work captures a man next to a house in La Higuera who recounted the damage caused by a lightning strike. Tejada photographed a person in the street at noon in Colonia de Santa Ana, also in black and white. Sotelo depicts a shepherd from Villanueva de Cauche petting a goat during the morning outing with his livestock.
“The images allow us to get closer to the diversity of the municipality and the reality of its rural nuclei,” noted Mayor Manolo Barón.
Councillor Sara Ríos explained that among the submitted works there are photographs from all the districts and highlighted the human component of the three awarded pieces. AFA president José Díez de los Ríos emphasised that people are the common element of the awarded works, within a competition that also captures landscapes, streets, and cultural manifestations of the outlying areas.
The exhibition can be visited at the exhibition hall of the Town Hall of Antequera from Monday to Friday, from 18:00 to 21:00 hours. It will remain closed on public holidays.
