The ADIPA association, which is celebrating half a century of activity, has been chosen to deliver the announcement for the Real Feria de Agosto of Antequera. The event will take place on August 18 in the courtyard of the Town Hall.

The Protocol Informative Commission of the Town Hall of Antequera has proposed ADIPA, the Association for People with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities of Antequera and its region, as the announcer for the Real Feria de Agosto 2026. The proposal, driven by the Mayor's Office, coincides with the 50th anniversary of the entity, which is celebrated this year.

ADIPA has spent five decades working to improve the quality of life for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families in Antequera and its region. The Town Hall thus acknowledges its trajectory and its contribution to a more inclusive society.

An announcement with two voices

The Commission has agreed that ADIPA itself will designate a worker or representative of the entity and two of its users to deliver the inaugural announcement of the Major Festivals. The event will take place on Wednesday, August 18 in the courtyard of the Town Hall of Antequera.

The Mayor of Antequera, Manolo Barón, highlighted the decision: "ADIPA represents the best of Antequera: daily effort, solidarity, overcoming challenges, and the ability to build a fairer and more inclusive society." Barón thanked the association for its willingness and expressed hope that the announcement will be "deeply human, moving, and representative of the values we share as a city."

The tribute is directed towards the users of ADIPA's services, their families, the professionals of the entity, and the volunteers and collaborators who participate in its programs. The Town Hall frames the proposal within its commitment to a more inclusive, accessible, and diverse city.

A fair for everyone

Manolo Barón added that inclusion must be present in decisions and celebrations, expressing his desire for the Real Feria de Agosto 2026 to be "the fair for everyone, without exceptions." The ADIPA association, based in Antequera, serves people from the entire region, so its role as announcer will have a direct impact on local residents, who will see their work recognized.

ADIPA's announcement joins other already known appointments: the Regidora, the Civil Guard Macarena Espinar; the poster's author, Ángel Calle; and the event's presenter, Francisco Ruiz. The complete program for the Major Festivals of Antequera will be announced in the coming weeks.

For the residents of Antequera, this announcement represents an opportunity to celebrate the fair with a more human and supportive approach. The date is August 18 in the courtyard of the Town Hall, an event open to all citizens who wish to accompany ADIPA in this recognition.
