UD Las Palmas has started its pre-season camp in Marbella on Monday, where it will stay for a week. De la Barrera has brought 32 players, but five are still injured, while Enzo Loiodice is already touching the ball.

The Canary team, which chooses the Costa del Sol every summer to prepare for the season, has completed its first training session in Marbella. There will be eleven sessions in seven days, including two friendlies. The main highlight has been seeing Enzo Loiodice training with the ball after undergoing ankle surgery in April.

A long list of injuries

Rubén De la Barrera has travelled with a squad of 32 players, but five of them have not been able to step onto the pitch. Sandro Ramírez, Cedeño, Ale García, Marvin Park and Viti Rozada are still recovering from injuries they carried over from the end of last season. The most concerning case is Ale García, whose return is not expected until well into the league.

Sandro Ramírez, who had already overcome a knee injury and even scored a goal, suffered a setback. The forward described the process as "a calvary" and admitted he had to "take two or three steps back" to recover safely. Viti and Marvin, the latter injured in the promotion playoff against Málaga, also did not train in the first session.

The camp, key for fitness

The coach will closely monitor the progress of the injured players and will take the opportunity to intensify the workload for the rest. The squad will have double sessions every day, except on Wednesday and Sunday, when they will play friendly matches. Additionally, De la Barrera will pay special attention to the nine youth players who have travelled to Marbella, hoping that some can make a place in the first team.

For fans in the province of Málaga, the presence of UD Las Palmas in Marbella offers an opportunity to see quality football in pre-season. The scheduled friendlies will be a great chance to enjoy the Canary team, which has become a classic of summers on the Costa del Sol. The first friendly will be on Wednesday, although the opponent has yet to be confirmed.
