The Occidental Puerto Banús, in Marbella, has inaugurated a temporary exhibition featuring over twenty works by Málaga artist Marta Ruiz Ankersmit, which will be open to visitors until 8 July.
The Occidental Puerto Banús hotel, located in the heart of Marbella, has opened to the public a temporary exhibition by Málaga artist Marta Ruiz Ankersmit, known for her work in contemporary abstract art. The exhibition, which will remain at the venue until 8 July, brings together more than twenty original pieces including acrylics on canvas, ceramic compositions, and tapestry works.
This initiative is part of the hotel’s commitment to integrating culture into the guest experience. In fact, the artist is also the creator of over 300 works that decorate the rooms of the Occidental Puerto Banús, making the accommodation a sort of living gallery. The exhibition, located in the hotel’s common areas, is freely accessible to both guests and external visitors.
Marta Ruiz Ankersmit, at the helm of the Ankersmit brand, has developed a style that combines textures and vibrant colours. The works on display can be purchased during the exhibition period, allowing interested parties to take home a unique piece from the hotel. The artist has emphasized that abstract art seeks to “connect with the emotions of the viewer” and that the hotel’s environment, with its light and atmosphere, is the ideal setting for this collection.
The Occidental Puerto Banús, a four-star hotel, is located next to the main square of Puerto Banús, one of the most exclusive marinas in the Mediterranean. Its privileged location, surrounded by beaches, golf courses, and luxury boutiques, makes it a coveted destination for both leisure and business tourism.
Culinary offerings are another cornerstone of the establishment. The hotel features several restaurants, including Arrozante, specialising in rice dishes; Dolce Vita, inspired by Italian cuisine; and Cocoa and Bar Breeze, which provide options for different times of the day. Additionally, there is a modern gym and facilities designed for the well-being of guests.
The exhibition of Marta Ruiz Ankersmit reinforces the hotel’s strategy to differentiate itself in the competitive tourist market of the Costa del Sol. According to sources from the establishment, the combination of art, gastronomy, and wellness aims to “enrich the visitor experience and strengthen the connection between tourism and culture.”
For contemporary art lovers, the exhibition presents an opportunity to discover the work of a Málaga artist in a unique setting. The pieces, ranging from large canvases to small ceramic works, are distributed throughout the lobby and other common areas of the hotel, creating a visual journey that invites contemplation.
The Occidental Puerto Banús is part of the Barceló Hotel Group, which manages several establishments in the province of Málaga. In recent years, the company has focused on integrating cultural proposals into its hotels as added value. In this case, the collaboration with a local artist also aims to support regional talent.
The exhibition will be open until 8 July at the Occidental Puerto Banús hotel, from 10:00 to 20:00 hours. Admission is free. Those interested in purchasing a work can inquire at reception or contact the artist directly through her Ankersmit brand.
