Málaga CF began their pre-season with a 1-0 victory against South Africa's Orlando Pirates in Marbella. A goal from Radiopane in the 85th minute secured the win for the Málaga side.

Málaga CF kicked off their pre-season with a narrow win against South Africa's Orlando Pirates in a friendly match held in Marbella. The blanquiazul team, managed by Sergio Pellicer, prevailed thanks to a solitary goal from Radiopane in the 85th minute, who capitalised on a defensive error from the South African side.

The match, held at the municipal stadium of Marbella, served as the first test for Málaga ahead of the upcoming season in the Segunda División. The Málaga team displayed defensive solidity and patience in attack, although Orlando Pirates, with more match fitness, posed a physical challenge with high pressing.

The first warning from Málaga came in the 20th minute, with a shot from Roberto that went wide. Shortly after, Orlando Pirates responded with a strike from Rapoo that forced Málaga's goalkeeper, Aarón Escandell, to make a notable save. The goalkeeper, starting in his debut, made several impressive stops that kept the score at 0-0 until half-time.

After the break, Málaga continued to dominate possession but lacked clarity in the final third. Coach Sergio Pellicer made substitutions to give minutes to the new signings. Among them, Andrés Rodríguez stood out, providing solidity in coverage and good aerial play. Sergio Ruiz also made his debut, showcasing his tactical intelligence in midfield.

Orlando Pirates, for their part, attempted to surprise on the counter, but the Málaga defence, with Álex Suárez and Juanma Herzog as centre-backs, remained firm. The South African side had a clear chance in the 70th minute, with a shot that hit the crossbar.

Just when the match seemed destined for a draw, Málaga scored. A cross from the left wing was met first-time by Radiopane, who beat the visiting goalkeeper. The Málaga forward, who had come on in the second half, celebrated his first goal in the blanquiazul shirt.

In the closing stages, Málaga could have doubled their lead with a double chance from Taisei Miyashiro, but his shot from the edge of the box hit the post. Valentín Pezzolesi also struck the crossbar in the final minute. Ultimately, the 1-0 scoreline was enough for Málaga to register their first pre-season victory.

The match also saw the absence of Jesé Rodríguez, who was not called up, and the non-participation of Dinko Horkas, despite being on the bench. Coach Pellicer explained after the match that both players are carrying minor injuries and will be managed carefully to avoid risks.

The Málaga fans, who travelled in good numbers to Marbella, were able to see the first glimpses of the new project. The team showed a good physical and tactical image, although adjustments in attack are still needed to be more effective. The next friendly will be on Saturday against Almería at the Mediterranean Games Stadium.

With this victory, Málaga CF starts their preparation for the 2026-27 season on a positive note, with their sights set on the goal of returning to the Primera División. The fans are hopeful that Pellicer's team can surprise and compete for promotion spots.
