The Civil Guard has dismantled a criminal organisation dedicated to laundering money from drug trafficking in the provinces of Seville and Cádiz. The operation, named “Trajano 23 Sorela”, has led to the arrest of eleven people and the investigation of one more.
The investigation arose from intelligence analysis regarding a high-value target in drug trafficking at both national and international levels. Investigators detected a complex business structure designed to conceal the origin and hinder the traceability of funds through various companies.
Activities of the Criminal Organisation
The implicated companies span various sectors, including nightlife, catering, and the real estate market, among others. These activities served to introduce illicit funds into the legal economic circuit.
The main areas of operation were entertainment and catering venues, especially in locations such as El Puerto de Santa María and Seville. The participation of the detainees in the organisation of nationally renowned musical events was also identified.
Results of the Operation
On July 1, the exploitation phase of the operation took place, resulting in 15 searches at various homes, offices, and businesses. As a result, a total of €1,860,400 in cash, ten vehicles, and several luxury goods, including watches and jewellery, were confiscated.
A dozen properties were provisionally seized, and nearly 20 bank accounts linked to the investigated individuals were blocked. The operation was carried out with a large police deployment, involving multiple units of the Civil Guard.
The operation concluded with the arrest of 11 individuals, who face charges of money laundering, belonging to a criminal organisation, and other drug-related offences. Two of the detainees were remanded in custody.
The Civil Guard believes that this action has dismantled a criminal organisation operating in Seville and Cádiz.
