The Civil Guard is currently investigating two men for an alleged crime of animal abuse at a dog school located in Navalcarnero, Madrid. The investigation was initiated in June after receiving several complaints from neighbours alerting about the poor conditions of the facilities and the lack of water and food for the animals.
During the inspections carried out at the site, the agents verified the existence of serious deficiencies in the facilities and the poor health condition of the dogs. The corpse of a dog was also found on the premises.
Rescue of 46 dogs
As a result of the inspections, a total of 46 dogs were seized and handed over to various animal shelters and associations in the Community of Madrid. Of these, nine dogs required immediate hospitalisation due to their extreme thinness, anaemia, and dehydration. Some of them also showed signs of diseases, parasites, and injuries.
Judicial actions and closure of facilities
The owners of the facilities have been investigated and have already been placed at the disposal of the judiciary for the crime of animal abuse. The facilities have been closed as a consequence of the findings and the severity of the situation encountered.
