The spokesperson for Con Málaga and IU criticises the Popular Party and Vox for using the protests over Ceuta to attack the Government, while urging not to normalise manipulation.
The provincial coordinator of IU and deputy spokesperson for Con Málaga, Toni Morillas, has condemned PP and Vox for the mass gatherings held yesterday in the province in support of Ceuta. In statements reported by Diario Sur, the Malaga leader denounced that the right has sought to "take advantage of the situation, instrumentalising an unprecedented humanitarian crisis".
Morillas, who accepted the invitation from the aforementioned media to comment on the protests, began with a conciliatory message towards the attendees: "No one questions that the vast majority of the Malaga population, due to the ties and the relationship between Malaga and Ceuta, is shocked by what is happening to a sister city." However, she wanted to distance herself from the mobilisations: "We will not normalise manipulations and instrumentalisation, nor will we allow the discourse of fear and hatred to be fed from the institutions".
"There has been an attempt to attack sovereignty in Ceuta to destabilise the Government of Spain, and against this, our condemnation and rejection is unquestionable. The responsibility lies with the Moroccan regime and this must be stated without reservation".
The leftist leader directly pointed to the parties behind the protests: "It has become clear, and was clearly seen yesterday, that PP and VOX have sought to take advantage of the situation. It is no coincidence that in their speeches they only launched slogans against the Government." In her opinion, "once again, the PP insists on the partisan use of institutions and the suffering of our people".
Morillas defended that the solution to the migration crisis lies in the reception of minors, a measure that, according to her, PP and Vox hinder: "From the PP and VOX, no solution is provided, but they also obstruct those that can provide real relief to Ceuta, such as welcoming minors as is being requested by the Ministry." And she concluded: "From our group, we are clear: human rights are non-negotiable".
