Our Lady of Tears and Favours presides over a Saturday evening rosary for the parish of San Juan. Our Lady of Grace returns to her chapel in a processional transfer, and the Dolorosa of Anguish will do so on Sunday from San Gabriel.
The first weekend of October concentrates in Málaga a calendar of cofradía events that includes two processional transfers and an evening rosary, as detailed by Diario Sur. The Virgin of Grace, from the Rescue brotherhood, will return to her chapel this Saturday after the triduum held at the sanctuary of Victoria, while the Dolorosa of Anguish, from the Sacred Descent, will do the same on Sunday from the parish of San Gabriel Archangel, in La Malagueta, to her brotherhood house.
On Saturday, after the 19:00 mass, the Virgin of Tears and Favours will preside over an evening rosary for the parish of the San Juan temple. The route will include the streets San Juan, Plaza de Félix Sáenz, Alarcón Luján, Mesón de Vélez, Liborio García, Nueva, Especería, Cisneros, Fernán González, and Calderón de la Barca, with an expected entry at San Juan around 21:30.
The transfer of the Virgin of Grace will begin at 21:00, following the third day of the triduum that starts at 19:30 in the sanctuary of Victoria. The image will pass through the Plaza del Santuario, Compás de la Victoria, Victoria, and Agua, accompanied by the music band Virgin of Rocío.
On Sunday, the Dolorosa of Anguish will process from the parish of San Gabriel Archangel, in La Malagueta, to her brotherhood house. On the same day, the brotherhood of Expiration will celebrate a solemn function for the 40th anniversary of the canonical coronation of the Virgin of Sorrows, at 12:00 in the parish of San Pedro.
The Rosary brotherhood of El Palo will begin its triduum on Sunday at 11:30 in the parish of Our Lady of Anguish, and the Sentencing will conclude its triduum in honour of the Virgin of the Rosary at 12:00 in the parish of Santiago.
The musical section includes an extraordinary concert for the 75th anniversary of the Christ of the Holy Transfer, on Saturday at 19:30 in the Edgar Neville auditorium of the Diputación de Málaga, featuring the symphonic band Virgin of the Trinity and the cornets and drums band Jesus Cautivo. Also on Saturday, at 19:00 in the Caja Blanca, the Andalusian Sacred Music Contest City of Málaga will take place, with the trio Elegía, the quartet Malacitana, Syrus Brass Quintet, and the school band Cruz del Humilladero. The Secular Franciscan Order of Málaga and the Seraphic brotherhoods maintain their program for the 8th centenary of the passing of Saint Francis of Assisi in the church of Santo Cristo de la Salud. On Saturday at 12:00, the Municipal music band, directed by Francisco Miguel Haro Sánchez, will perform, and at 19:00 a solemn vigil will be held. On Sunday, the solemn Eucharist will be presided over by the emeritus archbishop of Pamplona and Tudela, Monsignor Francisco Pérez González.
Other events this weekend include the fair for the brotherhood house of the Dulce Nombre, starting at 13:00 on Saturday in the Plaza de Capuchinos, featuring performances by the Duende Gitano academy, Rosa María Porras, Ainara López, Sara Ojeda, and Lucía Morales; at 18:00, Concha Carpena; at 21:00, the group Por Derecho, followed by DJ Danny Walls. The Cautivo will celebrate a mass of statutes with a besapié to Jesus Cautivo on Friday at 20:00 in San Pablo, and the Salesians will maintain the besamanos to Our Lady of Help and the solemn function on Saturday at 19:30 in the sanctuary of María Auxiliadora.
