Málaga, 21 August 2026. The Pharmacy Service of the Primary Care Health District Málaga-Valle del Guadalhorce has been awarded the ‘H de Oro’ 2026 by the Illustrious Official College of Pharmacists of Málaga (ICOFMA). This distinction recognises the ongoing collaboration and joint efforts to improve patient care.
The coordinator of the Pharmacy Service, María del Carmen Vela, was responsible for collecting the award, accompanied by the management team of the health district and professionals from the service. The award ceremony took place at La Rebotica, during the Málaga Fair, at an event that brought together representatives from various sectors of the province.
Recognition of Pharmaceutical Care
The ‘H de Oro’ awards from ICOFMA value professional trajectories and projects that stand out for their vocation and commitment to society. The collaboration between ICOFMA and the Pharmacy Service began in 2022 with the BENZOSTOP project, which aims to prevent and reduce dependence on the prolonged use of benzodiazepines.
Since then, other initiatives have been implemented, such as the collaborative dispensing of foreign medications, which avoids unnecessary travel for patients, and the COMUNICAP project, which facilitates the processing of medication renewal requests.
Positive Impact on Patient Care
During her speech, María del Carmen Vela highlighted the advances of the Pharmacy Service in recent years. She emphasised the increase in its capacity to care for a larger number of patients and adapt to new healthcare needs.
Vela also thanked ICOFMA for its contribution to this process and emphasised the importance of collaboration among professionals from different sectors. This synergy, she stated, allows for the expansion of pharmaceutical services and progress towards more accessible patient-centred care.
