The Vice President of the Junta de Andalucía and Minister of Presidency, Health and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, announced in the Plenary of Parliament that the legislative term will focus on a profound modernisation of the Andalusian Health System (SAS).
Digital transformation of the SAS
Sanz highlighted that the reform will encompass the organisation, functioning and regulatory framework of the public health system. Additionally, a digital transformation of the system will be implemented, ensuring that technology serves the citizens and facilitates the work of health professionals.
The minister emphasised that this is not starting from scratch, as there is already a portfolio of over 400 digital projects that will cover various healthcare and non-healthcare areas, as well as improvements in technological infrastructures and new services.
New regulations and participation
In this context, the new Law on Guaranteeing the Public Health System of Andalucía will play an essential role in the transformation, aiming to preserve and strengthen public health and protect professionals from potential aggression.
This regulation will also be aimed at improving accessibility, response times and coordination between primary and hospital care. As the first step in this reform, a Committee for Evaluation, Innovation and Operational Reform of the Public Health System will be created, which will include the participation of experts, professional associations, unions, and organisations. “A transformation of this magnitude must have the support of those who sustain the system,” Sanz stated.
Finally, the transformation of the SAS will include a strengthening of prevention and health education policies, especially in public health and vaccination.
