The territorial delegate for Health and Consumer Affairs in Málaga, Lucía Yeves, has visited the 061 Emergency Health Centre in the province. During her tour, Yeves learned about the various assistance resources of the centre and held a meeting with the professionals working there.
The delegate was accompanied by the provincial director of CES 061, Alejandro Salazar. Together they toured the facilities, where Yeves greeted the professionals and familiarised herself with the resources available for out-of-hospital emergency care.
Understanding the Coordination Room
A highlight of the visit was her move to the room of the emergency coordination centre. Here, urgent healthcare requests are received and assessed. This centre not only manages requests from the people of Málaga but also supports other areas of eastern Andalucía.
Assistance requests are usually handled by teleoperation service professionals, who are trained to manage calls and act in critical cases, such as cardiac arrests. The most common reasons for assistance include neurological disturbances, abdominal and chest pains, as well as respiratory and psychiatric issues.
Meeting with the Management Team and Professionals
The visit concluded with a working meeting where topics related to the organisation and operation of the centre were discussed. During the meeting, the coordination between the coordination room and the various assistance devices was analysed.
Yeves also took the opportunity to exchange views with the professionals of 061. This service has 177 specialists, distributed across seven mobile ICUs in the province, as well as teams for inter-hospital transfer of critical patients and a medical helicopter.
