The National Police has concluded its special operation at the Málaga Fair with a balance of 83 arrests and nearly 400 reports issued between August 14 and 23. Most of the reports relate to drug possession, while 38 are linked to illegal possession of weapons.
The 126 brawls addressed during the nine days of festivities became one of the main focuses of the officers' actions. Many of those involved were carrying knives, prompting interventions aimed at preventing more serious incidents.
The deployment involved more than 2,000 officers who secured the city. Throughout the week, they conducted nearly 6,700 identifications and checked 110 vehicles. There were also 86 actions related to Private Security, including inspections of the fairground booths.
Among the arrested, one person was arrested for robbery with violence; nine for public health crimes; seven for injuries; nine for resistance and disobedience; ten for assaulting law enforcement officers; and eight for sexual freedom crimes. Additionally, eight were arrested for illegal possession of weapons and seven for domestic abuse and gender violence.
The National Police also arrested 14 people who were wanted by the Justice system. The rest of the arrests corresponded to other types of crimes. Compared to previous editions, the data reflects a significant increase in interventions related to narcotic substances in the fairground and its surroundings.
The operation thus concludes with intense intervention at one of the most attended festive events in the province, where the presence of knives and fights marked the most conflictive side of the celebration.
