Over 120 educational centres in the province of Málaga have participated in the aulaDjaque programme during the past academic year, focusing on chess education.
Objective of the aulaDjaque programme
The programme, driven by the Education Department, aims to raise awareness of the benefits of chess through innovative teaching practices. According to the Education Minister, María del Carmen Castillo, this initiative serves as a pedagogical tool that allows students to discover the potentials of chess from a transversal and creative approach.
The participation of nearly 2,000 teachers in the last academic year reflects the interest in using chess as a learning medium, promoting ethical-civic values and developing cognitive and socio-affective skills among students.
Registration and future activities
Interested centres wishing to participate in aulaDjaque can register between 1 and 30 September, through the Séneca Information System, where they will find an explanatory tutorial in PDF format and video.
Looking ahead to the next academic year 2026/2027, a Congress aulaDjaque and the 'Corto y Jaque' competition are planned, which will consist of videos recorded by students. Additionally, the IV edition of the Lichess aulaDjaque Tournament will be scheduled, and a global action map based on the experiences of the programme coordinators will be developed.
Training will continue with virtual discussions aimed at teachers registered in aulaDjaque, addressing topics such as mathematical applications through chess and how to integrate this game into various subjects like Music and Language.
