An analysis by Bidafarma and the College of Pharmacists reveals the most demanded medications in the province. Nolotil and Enantyum top the list, followed by Adiro and paracetamol.
The Nolotil and Enantyum have established themselves as the best-selling drugs in pharmacies in Málaga, according to data provided by Bidafarma, a cooperative that covers 90% of the pharmacies in the province, and by the Official College of Pharmacists of Málaga. The analgesic and the anti-inflammatory lead the rankings in both funded and non-funded brands.
Alberto Barrionuevo, a member of the Pharmacy Office of the College, details that following Nolotil, used for pain and fever, is Adiro, indicated for preventing thrombosis, and one-gram paracetamol, both in generics and brand names. Next are Lexatin, an anxiolytic with bromazepam, and Algidol, a funded cold remedy.
The list continues with omeprazole for acidity; Ventolín, a bronchodilator for asthma; lorazepam, known by the brand Orfidal; and Robaxin, a muscle relaxant that does not cause drowsiness. Barrionuevo insists that no medication should be purchased without pharmaceutical advice and warns against self-medication.
Guadalupe Melguizo, a community pharmacist in Málaga and a member of the Board of Directors of Bidafarma, provides the lists of brands funded by the National Health System. Following Nolotil, notable mentions include Enantyum in capsules, Ventolín, Tardyferón (iron for anaemia), and Acfol (folic acid). Other presentations of Enantyum, Efferalgan, Turbet, Atrovent, and the drops Tobravex are also listed.
In the section of non-funded brands, Pectox Lisina, a mucolytic; Ryaltris, for allergic rhinitis; Fastum Gel; the laxative Enema Casen; Diprogenta; Movicol; Rinobadenif and Brentan stand out. Among funded generics, acetylsalicylic acid (like Adiro) is the most dispensed, followed by paracetamol, Omeprazole Sandoz, Bisoprolol Sandoz, Simvastatin Sandoz, and Metformin.
Among non-funded generics, Acetylcysteine Kern leads, followed by Ibukern, Espidifén 600, Galotam for erectile dysfunction, Dizinel for vertigo, Aciclovir Kern, and Estradiol Meriestra.
On another note, LUDA Partners, a digital pharmacy network, points out that in summer it is difficult to find Celestone, Lenzetto, Constella, Zaditen, and Kreon in Málaga due to supply issues. Professionals remind that one should always consult the pharmacist before purchasing any medication.
