Residents of various neighbourhoods in Málaga have gathered in Patrocinio square to demand "no to violence" a week after the murder of Nacho, the 20-year-old shot by mistake in Barcenillas. The three detainees for the crime are in provisional custody without bail.
This Friday afternoon, Patrocinio square hosted a gathering in memory of Nacho, the 20-year-old who was shot last Friday in Barcenillas. The call came from the neighbourhood association Victoriana de Capuchinos, with support from entities such as Las Flores, as reported by Diario Sur, and served to demand "no to violence" in the streets of the city.
Attendees remembered Nacho as a calm and sociable young man, "a friend of all Málaga" due to his ease in making friends. His loved ones insist that his profile had nothing to do with that of the aggressors and reject the initial speculations that linked him to criminal environments.
"The last thing he would do is get involved in that kind of world"
As an only child, he grew up in the area of Alegría de la Huerta and later moved with his mother to the neighbourhood of La Victoria, near the church square. In his teenage years, he lived in Ciudad Jardín, where he forged several friendships thanks to a common hobby: motorcycles and mechanics. Those who knew him describe him as "super hard-working": he did electrical work, carpentry, and roadworks near La Rosaleda and the Puente de la Palma, although his goal was to become a train mechanic at Renfe.
The crime occurred the previous Friday, around half past twelve, when 112 received calls from Barcenillas residents about several gunshots and a person wounded by a bullet on the ground. Although he was shot multiple times, the victim managed to get up and flee down the stairs towards Macabeos street to seek shelter, while the attackers escaped in the opposite direction. The scene caused panic, to the point that a young woman fainted in the street upon seeing the armed men fleeing. According to some witnesses, the aggressors disposed of the gun during their escape.
Emergency medical personnel attended to Nacho at the doors of a supermarket and, after stabilising him, urgently transported him to Hospital Regional de Málaga. He was admitted in critical condition to the ICU, where he fought for his life for hours. The National Police then deployed a security operation at the hospital entrances due to the possibility of a new attack. Around nine o'clock in the evening that same Friday, the doctors confirmed his death due to the severity of his internal injuries.
On the same day, the National Police arrested the three suspects at different locations. After being brought before the court, they were all placed in provisional custody, communicated and without bail.
