Málaga completely fells the split ficus in La Paz and announces its replacement

The Málaga City Council has completely felled the La Paz ficus that split on Sunday. Technicians detected dehydration and will replace it with another tree, amid local criticism.

The Málaga City Council has completely cut down the ficus in the La Paz neighbourhood that split on Sunday. Technicians detected dehydration after the summer and opted to remove it, according to Diario Sur.

The large ficus that split in half on Sunday night in the La Paz neighbourhood has been completely felled by the Parks and Gardens services of the Málaga City Council. The tree was located in a pedestrian area at the junction of calle Realenga de San Luis and camino de los Guindos, next to the northern wall of the Oeste park, and its canopy provided shade to a small square frequently used by residents.
