21 July 2026.- In Málaga, agents of the Civil Guard, together with the National Police, have dismantled a criminal group known as “El tren de Aragua”. This organization was dedicated to committing violent robberies and drug trafficking.

The investigation began in January 2026 after a robbery at a luxury home in a nearby town to León, where the criminals stole jewellery and watches valued at over 100,000 euros, as well as 10,000 euros in cash.

Methods used by the criminals

The perpetrators of the robbery selected their victims by conducting prior studies of their movements and habits. During the assault, which involved significant violence and intimidation, they gagged and bound the victims, including minors, using zip ties and adhesive tape.

To avoid detection, the members of the organization wore balaclavas and used stolen vehicles with fake license plates, which were destroyed after committing the crimes.

Results of the police operation

The operation culminated in six searches of homes in Madrid, Tenerife, Ibiza, and Orense, resulting in the arrest of five individuals, four of whom have been remanded in custody. They are charged with crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, violent robberies, illegal possession of firearms, and public health offenses, among others.

During the searches, numerous items were confiscated, including mobile phones used to coordinate criminal activities, 50 short firearm cartridges, over 5,700 euros in cash, fake license plates, as well as large quantities of drugs, such as over 500 grams of pink cocaine and 182 grams of MDMA, along with pills ready for distribution.

The operation has demonstrated that the robberies were meticulously planned and that there was a deep knowledge of the victims by the criminals. With this action, the aim is not only to dismantle this criminal network but also to reduce the incidence of crimes in the region.
