La Cala del Moral beach will be the venue on August 8 for the XIII Travesía Brazadas Solidarias, which expects to gather around five hundred participants. The funds raised will be allocated to health projects in Mozambique.
Rincón de la Victoria is preparing to host the XIII edition of the Travesía Brazadas Solidarias on August 8, a sporting event that combines open water swimming with international cooperation. The organisation expects the participation of around five hundred swimmers from various parts of the country, according to municipal sources.
The event, organised by the Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall, the Provincial Council of Málaga, the Brazadas Solidarias association, and the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, will offer three distances: 2,500 metres, 800 metres, and a children's event of 300 metres. The competition will be part of the IV Brazadas Solidarias Ferrer Circuit and the I Diputación de Málaga Open Water Cup.
The Councillor for Sports, Antonio José Martín, highlighted that "this crossing brings together hundreds of swimmers in each edition, many of them from our municipality, in a competition with a strong charitable character." Meanwhile, the Mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, assured that "we continue to support sporting events that combine competition with a strong charitable character, making this one of the most established open water swimming events in the Andalusian calendar held on our coast."
The long-distance event, of 2,500 metres, will start at 12:00 from La Cala del Moral beach. The 800-metre distance will begin at 13:00 from El Tajo beach, while the popular 300-metre event, aimed at the younger participants, will take place after the previous events.
The competition includes male and female categories, from juniors to masters 80, and incorporates a category for overcoming challenges, aimed at athletes with recognised disabilities, thus reinforcing the inclusive nature of the event. This edition again focuses on diversity and integration through sport.
The president of the Brazadas Solidarias Association, Christian Jongeneel, explained that "each stroke has a purpose that goes far beyond sport. This year, the funds raised will ensure access to healthcare for vulnerable people in Chókwè, Mozambique, helping to improve healthcare and combat HIV, tuberculosis, malnutrition, and other chronic diseases in partnership with the Carmelo Hospital and the Vicente Ferrer Foundation."
Registrations can be made through the Brazadas Solidarias website and will remain open from July 10 to August 7, 2026, until 14:00. The fee is 20 euros for those who register by August 5, and 25 euros for registrations made on August 6 and 7 (until 14:00).
The Brazadas Solidarias association, linked to the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, organises sporting events with a strong social vocation, allocating the funds raised to cooperation projects focused on children and women in situations of exclusion in India and Nepal. On this occasion, the focus has been placed on Mozambique, where lack of access to basic healthcare is a reality for thousands of people.
The Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall has encouraged residents and visitors to participate in this charitable day, either as swimmers or as spectators. La Cala del Moral beach will become a meeting point for sport and solidarity, with a festive and family-friendly atmosphere. The organisation recommends arriving early to collect race numbers and familiarise oneself with the course.
