The Nerja Town Council has reopened the public information period for the preliminary project of the 847-space car park on Avenida de Pescia, after the first process was annulled due to lack of technical documentation.

The Nerja Town Council has reactivated the public information process for the preliminary project to build an 847-space car park on Avenida de Pescia, next to the future Health Centre. The new period, lasting one month, has opened after the previous process was invalidated for not including all the required documentation.

According to municipal sources, the General Secretariat and the new Municipal Contracting Technician detected that there were missing complementary technical reports that the previous contracting officer did not consider necessary. Once the drafting architect has submitted those documents, the file has been republished in the Official Bulletin of the Province (BOP), the Virtual Board, and the municipal Electronic Headquarters.

The mayor, José Alberto Armijo, has signed the decree that initiates this second period of objections, at the proposal of the Urban Planning councillor. The aim is to regularise the administrative processing of the project, which has been pending for years and has generated anticipation among the residents of Nerja, especially due to the lack of parking in the town centre.

The future building, planned on plot SG-EC.2 of the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU), will have a constructed area of 25,406.46 square metres distributed over four floors. In total, it will offer 847 parking spaces, a figure intended to alleviate the parking deficit in the municipality, especially during the peak tourist season.

Additionally, the roof of the building will house the future Nerja Transport Interchange, an infrastructure aimed at improving the connection between different modes of public transport and facilitating movement within the municipality and to other points on the Costa del Sol.

Once the public exhibition period has concluded and the objections presented have been resolved, the Town Council will proceed with the final approval of the preliminary project. From there, the process will continue with the drafting and approval of the terms of reference to tender the execution project, the works, and the subsequent operation of the facility.

This step represents a significant advance for a project long demanded by the residents of Nerja, who see this car park as a solution to mobility and parking problems. However, the process is still lengthy: after the approval of the preliminary project, there will be a wait for the tendering and execution of the works, the timeline for which is not defined.

Interested residents can consult the documentation on the Town Council's Electronic Headquarters and submit objections during the next month. The Council recommends reviewing the plans and technical reports to understand the impact of the construction on the environment of Avenida de Pescia.
