The Civil Guard has dismantled a criminal group based in Murcia that was engaged in violent robberies of gaming hall collectors. In total, six individuals linked to this organisation have been arrested, who operated with significant violence and intimidation.
Details of Operation “Agon”
As part of the operation named “Agon”, the Civil Guard carried out five searches in the municipality of Alguazas, where two air-powered handguns, ammunition, vehicles, tools, and clothing that had been used during the robberies were seized. Additionally, narcotic substances related to drug trafficking were found.
The investigation began last summer when an increase in a specific type of robbery was detected. The victims were always the collectors from gaming houses, who were assaulted with firearms as they left the premises after making their collections.
Modus operandi of the criminal group
The members of this group had a significant criminal record and a well-defined modus operandi. They would track the collectors before they entered the gaming halls and, upon exiting, would violently confront them, threatening them with weapons to take the collected money.
Furthermore, the organisation implemented counter-surveillance measures, with informants alerting them to the presence of police in the vicinity of Alguazas. To hinder their capture, they used stolen vehicles, changing their license plates to avoid being linked to the crimes committed.
Thanks to this investigation, around 20 violent robberies in various municipalities of the Region of Murcia have been clarified, including Las Torres de Cotillas, Ceutí, Lorquí, and Mazarrón, among others.
