Dunas Capital Real Estate has secured €31 million in funding to build a state-of-the-art logistics facility at the Dry Port of Antequera. The facility, which will be fully leased to Ontime, encompasses 36,000 square metres dedicated to cold chain storage.
The Dry Port of Antequera is gaining a new logistics giant. Dunas Capital Real Estate signed a €31 million financing agreement on Wednesday with the management firm Cheyne Capital to develop a state-of-the-art cold storage platform. The facility, which will be entirely leased to Ontime, is shaping up to be one of the largest logistics investments in recent years in Andalusia.
A Warehouse Designed for Cold and Efficiency
The plot where the project will be built occupies 63,000 square metres within the Dry Port of Antequera, managed by the French group Groupe IDEC. The gross built area will be 36,000 square metres, of which over 20,000 will be equipped with tri-temperature cold technology, both positive and negative. This will make it one of the most advanced cold chain logistics platforms in Spain.
The design includes sustainable construction criteria, with systems for generating green energy specifically aimed at powering refrigeration equipment. The warehouse aims to be a benchmark in energy efficiency within the logistics sector.
“Given its size and technological characteristics, this project consolidates our leadership position in the cold chain logistics real estate development market,” stated the CEO of Dunas Capital Real Estate, Miguel López Puche.
A Local Operation with National Projection
The financing has been advised by Dunas Capital Debt, a unit of the group specialised in alternative financing. Its CEO, José María Sagardoy, noted that the Antequera project “represents a success story” that reinforces this division's track record as a strategic partner for complex operations.
From Cheyne Capital, its director for the Iberian Peninsula, Javier Quintela, emphasised that the Dry Port of Antequera “represents exactly the type of logistics infrastructure” in which the management firm wants to participate, due to its strategic location and being managed by an experienced operator like Ontime.
The Dry Port of Antequera occupies over 330 hectares and is part of the Logistics Network of Andalusia. Its direct connections to the Mediterranean and Atlantic railway corridors, as well as to the main road networks, seaports, and airports in the region, make it a privileged location for logistics.
For the residents of Antequera, this investment means a direct economic boost: job creation during construction and operation, and a strengthening of the municipality's position as a logistics hub in southern Spain. The cold storage platform also responds to the growing demand for storage of perishable and pharmaceutical products.
With this operation, Dunas Capital Real Estate now manages over 4.5 million square metres of net industrial land in Spain and a portfolio of operational logistics assets exceeding 255,000 square metres, with a presence in Noblejas (Toledo), Chiloeches (Guadalajara), Loriguilla (Valencia), Castellbisbal (Barcelona), and Antequera (Málaga).
The forecast is for construction to begin in the coming months, with the warehouse becoming operational within 18 to 24 months. Those interested in the project can follow its progress through the official channels of the Dry Port of Antequera.
