The 'Digital Summer' programme will offer free programming, robotics, and artificial intelligence workshops for children aged 9 to 14 in various districts of Marbella during July and August.
Children in Marbella will be able to learn to create their own websites, robots, and content with artificial intelligence this summer at no cost. The Town Hall has launched the first edition of 'Digital Summer', a programme of technology workshops aimed at children aged between 9 and 14 registered in the municipality.
Six sessions in four districts
The workshops will be held in intensive sessions of four days, from Monday to Thursday in the morning, with small groups of 15 students. The calendar kicks off on 20 July in San Pedro Alcántara and runs until the end of August, covering Nueva Andalucía, Marbella centre, and Las Chapas.
Specifically, the dates are: from 20 to 23 July in San Pedro Alcántara; from 27 to 30 July in Nueva Andalucía; from 3 to 6 August in Marbella; from 10 to 13 August again in San Pedro Alcántara; from 17 to 20 August in Marbella; and from 24 to 27 August in Las Chapas.
Three modalities to create, not just consume
The programme is structured into three thematic campuses. The first, 'Digital Summer', introduces programming, robotics, applications, and 3D design. The second, 'Digital Campus', delves deeper into programming, 3D design, and artificial intelligence. The third, 'Creative AI Campus', focuses on content creation using artificial intelligence, including text, image, and video generation.
In addition to the technical content, the workshops include cross-cutting training on responsible internet use, civic behaviour online, and digital risk prevention, according to the organisers.
“The aim is for children to move from being passive consumers to becoming creators,” says the programme manager, Sabi Borsos.
The Director General of Innovation, Baldomero León, adds that “it is important for minors to have educational activities that allow them to navigate the digital environment safely. It is essential that they learn about cybersecurity and safe internet browsing.”
Free and online registrations
Registrations are completely free and must be made through the municipal website. Each session has limited places until full capacity is reached, and interested parties can sign up independently for each of the six editions.
The programme is exclusively aimed at minors registered in Marbella, so parents will need to verify this requirement when formalising the registration. With this initiative, the Town Hall aims to provide an educational and recreational alternative for the holidays while fostering technological vocations from an early age.
