The Málaga bullfighter Saúl Jiménez Fortes has been awarded the Capote de Paseo Trophy 2026, granted by the Málaga City Council for the best performance at the Bullfighting Fair. This is his fifth award, achieved unanimously.

The Málaga bullfighter Saúl Jiménez Fortes has claimed the Capote de Paseo Trophy 2026, the award given by the Málaga City Council for the best performance at the Bullfighting Fair. The jury, convened this noon with the presence of the councillor for Operational Services, Beaches and Festivals, Teresa Porras, selected him unanimously.

The award recognises the performance carried out on 21 August against the bull ‘Borracho’, from the Victorino Martín ranch. That afternoon, Fortes cut two ears and was carried out on shoulders through the main gate of the La Malagueta bullring.

With this, it is now five Capotes de Paseo that the bullfighter has achieved, having previously won in 2016, 2018, 2023 and 2024. This is one of the most prestigious trophies in bullfighting, awarded since 1961, with jury scores given individually for each performance.

The jury for this edition was chaired by Juan Pedro de Luna y Ximénez de Enciso and included Manuel Fernández Maldonado, Daniel Herrera Checa, Francisco Javier Jurado Carmona, Enrique Romero Fernández, Eduardo Martín Serrano, José María Morente del Monte, Antonio Montilla Romero, Juan Manuel Pozo Torres, Juan Romera Fadón, Ignacio Mateos Mateos, Juan Ramón Romero Fernández, Marta Jiménez Agredano, José Luis Fernández Torres, Luis Méndez Escalante, Horacio Oliva Álvarez, Irene Martín Moya and Manuel Jiménez Bravo.

Fortes will receive the 2026 Capote de Paseo at his next performance in the Málaga Bullfighting Fair, as reported by the City Council in a statement.
