Málaga celebrates its patroness, the Virgin of Victory, this Tuesday, and shops will reopen with reduced hours. In the province, shopping centres operate normally, except in Mijas, where it is also a local holiday.
The capital of Málaga commemorates this Tuesday, September 8, the feast of its patroness, the Virgin of Victory, a day of rest for many but not for the commercial sector. According to Diario Sur, almost all shopping centres and large stores in the city will open, although with reduced hours similar to Sundays: generally opening one hour later and closing one hour earlier.
In the capital, the centres Larios Centro, Rosaleda, Plaza Mayor, McArthurGlen Designer Outlet, Vialia Estación María Zambrano, Málaga Plaza, and Málaga Nostrum will open their doors. Large stores such as El Corte Inglés, Leroy Merlin, Conforama, Verdecora, Muelle Uno, and Ikea will also be open. Shops smaller than 300 square meters can decide freely whether to open on special dates like this.
In the rest of the province, as it is a working day, shops and shopping centres open normally. This is the case for Miramar (Fuengirola), the shopping centre in Rincón de la Victoria, Puerto Marina Shopping (Benalmádena), El Corte Inglés in Mijas and Marbella, La Trocha (Coín), La Verónica (Antequera), La Cañada (Marbella), El Ingenio (Vélez-Málaga), and CostasolCentro (Torremolinos).
The exception in the province is Mijas, which also celebrates its patroness, the Virgin of Peña. Despite the local holiday, shops can open because the municipality is included in the tourist zone (ZGAT), which allows daily opening until September 27. Antequera, for its part, also does not have a working day due to the Virgin of Remedies, but its shopping centre, La Verónica, remains open.
