The Málaga City Council has tendered the renewal of the sewage system in Santa Rosalía-Maqueda, in Campanillas, for 828,745 euros. The works will separate the sewage and rainwater networks, with an execution period of six months.
The Málaga City Council, through the Municipal Urban Planning Management, has initiated the tendering of works to improve the sewage system in the neighbourhood of Santa Rosalía-Maqueda, in the Campanillas district. The budget amounts to 828,745.86 euros, VAT included, and the expected execution period is six months.
The project focuses on the Pasillo de las Flores, in the section between Día street and the municipal sports facility of the Unión Deportiva Santa Rosalía-Maqueda. The main objective is to separate the sewage and rainwater collection networks, a long-standing demand from the residents.
A new sewage network
To achieve this, a new sewage network will be constructed with a collector of 500 millimetres in diameter, with sufficient capacity to service the upstream sectors. The current mixed network will be used exclusively for the evacuation of rainwater, which will require disconnecting the existing household connections and linking them to the new collector.
The project also includes the execution of new connections at the discharge points, the installation of inspection wells, and the placement of drains for rainwater collection, connected to the future rainwater network.
Improvement of accessibility and underground cabling
In addition to the renewal of hydraulic infrastructures, the works will include the restoration of the roadway and affected pavements, aiming to improve accessibility conditions in the area. The existing overhead wiring at the intersection with Día street will also be removed, telecommunications cabling will be buried, and the public lighting of the Pasillo de las Flores will be renewed.
The residents of Santa Rosalía-Maqueda have been requesting this action for years, which will not only prevent flooding during heavy rain episodes but also improve the health and appearance of the neighbourhood. Companies interested in executing the works have 20 calendar days to submit their bids for the tender process.
