In Alcalá del Río, Sevilla, two off-duty civil guards have arrested an individual allegedly involved in several thefts committed during the same night. The agents clarified three burglaries in homes and two thefts from vehicles, in addition to recovering numerous stolen items.
Intervention by off-duty agents
The action of the civil guards began when one of them noticed the suspicious behaviour of a person while walking through the town. He decided to follow the individual and, after several minutes, managed to catch him in the act inside a vehicle, at the moment he was taking someone else's belongings.
The civil guard requested support from another agent, also off-duty, who was nearby and had spoken with him moments earlier. Both decided to alert the units on duty to continue with the intervention.
Clarified criminal acts
Thanks to the swift action, five criminal acts were clarified. This includes three burglaries in homes carried out by climbing and two thefts from well-parked vehicles.
In some of these burglaries, the occupants were inside, which generated considerable social alarm among the neighbours. The alleged thief accessed the homes mainly to steal high-value items on the black market, such as televisions, game consoles, jewellery, and tools.
Regarding the vehicles, the suspect checked the door handles to enter only those that were open.
The agents' actions also led to the recovery of numerous stolen items, which were returned to their respective owners. The Civil Guard continues the investigation to determine if the detainee is involved in other similar crimes in the area.
The arrests were made by civil guards from the USECIC of the Sevilla Command and the Alcalá del Río Post, with the collaboration of the Local Police for the transfer of the detainee to the Civil Guard facilities.
