The male and female teams of Club Nerja de Atletismo Trops-Cueva de Nerja have been crowned champions of Andalusia in the U16 club category, held in Motril.
The Club Nerja de Atletismo Trops-Cueva de Nerja achieved a historic double at the Andalusia U16 club championships, with both its male and female teams finishing first in the competition held in Motril. The male team accumulated 210 points, edging out Atletismo Delsur (201) and Trotasierra Hornachuelos (179). The female team dominated with 255 points, ahead of Delsur (252) and Atletismo Málaga (190).
The victory marks a significant milestone for the club, which has been steadily improving in recent years. Last season, the male team placed fifth and the female team third; this year's double triumph reflects the club's growing strength in youth athletics. The competition brought together top U16 clubs from across Andalusia, testing athletes in track and field events.
Leading the charge for the Nerja club were ten first-place finishes. Sara Rivera won the 3-kilometer race walk; Carla Heredia took gold in discus throw; Martina Sierra excelled in pole vault; Jimena Ortiz dominated the 3,000 meters; Ángel Jiménez won the javelin throw; Pedro Muñoz secured victories in both shot put and discus; Elie Grzib impressed with wins in long jump and 600 meters; and the 4x300 relay team of Jorge Montilla, Alejandro Carbonell, Mario Jiménez, and Elie Grzib also crossed first.
Additionally, the team earned twelve second-place finishes. Marco Giasante was runner-up in the 100 meters and 100 meters hurdles; Gonzalo Guiote placed second in the 3,000 meters; Carla Heredia took silver in shot put; Damaris Martínez was second in long jump and 100 meters hurdles; Irene Mata finished second in high jump; Ana Pérez was runner-up in the 300 meters hurdles; Osariemen Esheien took silver in the 100 meters; Carmelo Millón placed second in hammer throw; Ángel Jiménez was runner-up in pole vault; and Miguel Villar finished second in the 1,500 meters steeplechase.
Third-place finishes added to the club's points tally: Tiana Seres in hammer throw; Andrea de la Torre in triple jump; Ángeles Fernández in 600 meters; Alejandro Martín in the 3-kilometer race walk; Leo Sánchez in high jump; Quin Sanders in 1,000 meters; Alejandro Carbonell in 300 meters; and the 4x100 relay team of Iris López, Damaris Martínez, Lucía Martín, and Osariemen Esheien, as well as the 4x300 relay team of Paula Martínez, Mónica Ruz, Ángeles Fernández, and Ana Pérez.
