The Plenary of the Nerja Town Hall has approved the granting of a municipal space of 387 square meters to the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE) for its new office, on Antonio Jiménez street. The agreement, for 50 years, was passed with votes from the PP and the abstention of PSOE and Podemos-IU.
The Nerja Town Hall has given the green light to the granting of a municipal space to the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE) to set up a new office on the ground floor of the building at Antonio Jiménez street, number 2. The agreement, approved in the Plenary with the favourable votes of the Popular Party and the abstention of PSOE and Podemos-Izquierda Unida with Nerja, will allow the SAE to have a space of 387 square meters, larger and more accessible than the current one.
The mayor, José Alberto Armijo, emphasized that this decision reflects the government team's commitment to improving public services and employment. "The residents of Nerja and Maro will have access to modern facilities adapted to current needs," he stated during the plenary session.
A 50-year grant to ensure stability
The councillor for Employment, Ángela Díaz, explained that the grant will be formalized through a external domain mutation, a legal figure that allows the use of a public asset to be granted to another administration without losing ownership. The agreement has a duration of 50 years, ensuring the continuity of the service in the municipality.
The SAE has been operating in Nerja for over four decades, providing job placement services, professional guidance, management of job offers, training, and advice to companies. The new office will improve the attention given to job seekers, who have so far been limited by the small space of the current facilities.
The Town Hall has already carried out the necessary works to separate the ground floor of the building and has completed the processing of the file. Once the Junta de Andalucía expresses its agreement, both administrations will sign the agreement that will make the grant effective.
What does this mean for the residents of Nerja and Maro?
Users of the SAE in Nerja and the district of Maro will benefit from a larger and more accessible space, with better conditions for receiving personalized attention. The office will be located in a central area, on Antonio Jiménez street, which will facilitate access on foot or by public transport.
The new space will allow the SAE to expand its services, such as conducting job search workshops or group orientation sessions, which were previously difficult to organize due to lack of space. Additionally, accessibility will improve for people with reduced mobility, as the ground floor has an adapted entrance.
Mayor Armijo reminded that this grant does not incur any cost for the Town Hall, as the renovation works have already been paid for. "It is an example of collaboration between administrations to improve the lives of citizens," he concluded.
The new office is expected to be operational in the coming months, once the agreement is signed and the final adjustments are made. Residents will be able to continue using the current office until the new one opens.
