The Andalucía Antequera Light Fest 2026 will commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Dolmens as World Heritage with six light interventions and a free Family Days Festival from July 15 to 19.
Next July, Antequera will once again be the epicentre of culture and light with a very special edition of the Andalucía Antequera Light Fest. The festival, which this year celebrates the tenth anniversary of the declaration of the Dolmens Site as World Heritage, has been presented at the City Museum with a programme that promises to dazzle locals and visitors alike.
The mayor of Antequera, Manolo Barón, and the deputy mayor for Tourism and World Heritage, Ana Cebrián, have revealed the details of this edition, which has a budget of 300,000 euros. Barón highlighted the special nature of the event, which commemorates "ten years of a historic date for Antequera." The festival is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Andalucía Exterior of the Junta de Andalucía, as well as by Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol of the Málaga Provincial Council.
Six Light Shows in the Historic Centre
The main days of the Light Fest will be on July 17 and 18, featuring six light interventions spread throughout the historic centre of the city. One of the major novelties will be Luminare, a videomapping show that this year will take place inside the Real Colegiata de Santa María la Mayor. The façade will be illuminated, but the main projection will occur inside the monument, over the main altar, columns, arches, and ceiling, offering an immersive experience of universal heritage.
On the San Judas slope, Rain of Light will be showcased, an artistic installation where trees will transform into light sculptures with blue drops evoking the importance of water in Antequera's history. The Coso Viejo will revive the traditional display of candles, with compositions inspired by the symbols of the city and UNESCO. The San Sebastián square will host The Fire of History, a proposal that combines light, music, and fire to recall the origins of humanity.
The courtyard of the Town Hall will become Music Party Universe, an intervention inspired by the firmament and the observation of the sky by our ancestors. Finally, the San Luis square will be the stage for DJ Light, a videomapping show with live music aimed at a young audience. All these activities will take place from 22:30 to 02:00 hours.
Family Days Festival: Entertainment for All Ages
As a complement, the Paseo Real will host the Family Days Festival from July 15 to 19, a free-access space open from 20:00 to 00:00 hours. The programme will include 12 food trucks and a wide range of children's shows, live music, and tributes. On Wednesday, July 15, it will kick off with the children's show Family Dance: The Awakening and the concert Superhits in Spanish. On Thursday, July 16, there will be Generational Afternoon, K-Pop Experience, and a tribute to Estopa.
On Friday, July 17, it will be the turn of Retro-Family Show, the Disney Musical Wishes Gala, and a tribute to Fito & Fitipaldis. On Saturday, July 18, Vermú Dance: Children's Hits, Viral Kids Experience, and a tribute to Héroes del Silencio will be offered. On Sunday, July 19, the programme will conclude with Great Multimedia Animations and a tribute concert to The Beatles.
Last year, the Light Fest attracted over 40,000 people, according to data from the Town Hall, demonstrating the tourist and economic impact of this event. For this edition, it is expected to surpass that figure, consolidating Antequera as a reference point for light festivals in Andalucía.
The residents of Antequera and tourists visiting during these days will be able to enjoy a varied and free cultural offer, with activities for all ages. The festival not only celebrates heritage but also boosts the local economy, with the participation of food trucks and local artists. A unique opportunity to rediscover the city in a new light.
