The Association for People with Intellectual Disabilities of Antequera and the Surrounding Area (ADIPA) will announce the Real Feria de Agosto 2026, coinciding with its 50th anniversary. The Town Hall thus recognises its inclusive work.

The Association for People with Intellectual Disabilities or Development of Antequera and the Surrounding Area (ADIPA) has been designated to deliver the announcement for the Real Feria de Agosto 2026. The proposal, approved this Monday by the Informative Protocol Commission of the Town Hall of Antequera, comes in a very special year for the entity: it celebrates its 50th anniversary.

ADIPA, which has established itself as a benchmark in the care of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will be responsible for choosing the person who will read the announcement. The event will also feature the participation of two users from the association, who will accompany the announcer in the courtyard of the Town Hall.

A recognition of the inclusive trajectory

The mayor of Antequera, Manolo Barón, has valued the choice, highlighting that ADIPA "represents the best of Antequera" for its commitment to inclusion. "We want the fair to reflect the values of equality, coexistence, and integration that this association defends every day," the mayor pointed out.

The Town Hall aims to recognise the work of professionals, volunteers, collaborators, users, and families who have made ADIPA a pillar in the region. The entity serves hundreds of people and their families, offering support services, training, and inclusive leisure activities.

Schedule of awards for the 2026 Fair

The announcement of the announcer completes the roster of prominent figures for the Real Feria de Agosto 2026. Previously, the civil guard Macarena Espinar had been designated as the Regidora, the artist Ángel Calle as the author of the promotional poster, and Francisco Ruiz as the presenter of the work.

The fair will officially kick off on August 19 with the announcement in the courtyard of the Town Hall, an event that traditionally gathers hundreds of Antequerans and visitors. For the locals, it will be an opportunity to celebrate the half-century of ADIPA and to recognise its work in the community.

The association, founded in 1976, has tirelessly worked for the social and labour integration of people with intellectual disabilities. Its presence at the fair represents a symbolic gesture of a city that bets on diversity.

An announcement with a taste of inclusion

The choice of ADIPA is not coincidental: the Town Hall wanted to link the major festivities with the social fabric of the city. "The fair belongs to everyone, and what better than an entity that works for inclusion to give the starting signal," municipal sources have stated.

The announcement is expected to be emotional and reivindicative, highlighting the right to participation of people with disabilities in all areas of public life. The users of ADIPA accompanying the announcer will be the protagonists of an event that promises to be unforgettable.

For the Antequerans, the date is August 19 at 21:00 hours in the courtyard of the Town Hall. Admission will be free until capacity is reached, and it is recommended to arrive early to not miss the start of the fair.
